The Beetles

Today as I was circling the house watering my flowers, I noticed two man-eating Japanese beetles on my Hibiscus tree. Leo Dicaprio says that there is an influx of these because of global warming, and so I'm doing two things: 1) getting a hybrid vehicle, and b) spraying my tree. Gosh, I hope bugspray doesn't contribute to global warming. What a vicious cycle! You can see here what they did to the beautiful Hibiscus flower...from the plant genus Hibiscus Treeapesius. I mean, I can understand that they would be hungry having just flown in from Japan, but seriously...find some saki or sushi. Please leave my plants alone! If any of you beetles are reading this, just please..take me instead. And don't even think about coming after my roses, or worse yet my baby!

On a related note, I posted this 10 minutes ago with beetle spelled beatle. One Tequiza later, as I was having Greg read it, I noticed I'd spelled it incorrectly. A light bulb went off when I realized the name Beatles, as in Ringo Starr, George Harrison, John Lennon, and Roy Orbison, is really a pun. Beat..as in music...les. That's great! And to think I was listening to them in the 60s without having realized that. Also, I do know the other member was Paul McCartney. But the Traveling Wilburys are great too.

No Code Browns at the Pool Today

Evie and I went to the pool this morning, and we're so glad we did. I made a new friend, and Evie made a new boyfriend. Of course, anytime Evie has a bathing suit on, the boys are swarming around her like she's got bacon in her pocket or something. We've been to the pool a few times but today is the first day I realized (or maybe someone had to tell me) that when the lifeguards blow the whistles to clear the pool, that's when the mommies and babies have a chance to swim alone. So that's what we did, and all of the big kids were jealous while Evie hogged the giant floating foam crab for about 15 minutes. That must've worn her out, because then she slept on a lawn chair for a while while the paparazzi (me) took pictures of her. I also got some shots of Evie with her new boyfriend, Blaine, but they were to smudgy to post here. Someone has been letting their baby chew on the camera in a desperate ploy to "accidentally" break it so that their husband will agree to buy a higher mega-pixeled camera. This thing is so 2001. So the lense was smudged and I didn't know it until I looked at them on here. Only one picture today, but there's plenty more of Evie to go around; just check back later.

Our First Dinner on the New Patio

Tonight when I got home from work, Greg had dinner waiting as usual on a Tuesday night (I lead a rough life). So we took the highchair out and had dinner on our new patio. It was lovely--temperature just right, almost bug free, and a great dinner. We're so glad we invested in some patio furniture. Here's a picture of Evie showing us all of the food that didn't get in her mouth. There's more in her pants that you just can't see here. After dinner our neighbors came over to chat a bit, and Evie took a ride with Jenae on the swing next door. We're so lucky to have such great neighbors! But really we know they are just using us for our patio and our baby :) You'll probably wonder why Evie is wearing a nice shirt and a diaper, but then just remember Daddy has her on Tuesdays. I don't ask questions. I just kiss the cheeks.
