She looks pretty much the same as last time, but she's really pretty different. In the past few weeks Evie has really started to say a lot. We're trying to convince her that grunting is no way to get what you want unless you live in a cave and ride a dinosaur. Seems to be working. I used to think that baby sign language was just another way for parents to show off what their kids could do. But now I'm a believer. There is nothing more frustrating than not knowing what your child is trying to tell you. And it seems that the signs have developed a little of her language...plus she thinks it's fun. I kind of do too. If I don't know the sign for something I make it up, and that's what we use. Kind of like if you ask Evie what some animal says, and if she doesn't know it, she just makes up a noise.

I tried to get a few shots of my little sleeping beauty today...

"oh she's got that camera again"

"good afternoon, mommy!"

evie hearts snow

I was so excited when I saw the snow this morning and have been running through ideas in my head about pictures I was going to get of Evie walking in the snow, playing in the snow, and just loving the snow. Then when we took her out today, we found out that she didn't like the snow. Can you tell?

under the influence (of elmo)

Evie will eat applesauce but has never wanted apples. Even sliced, peeled, whatever. But Elmo says apples are yummy, and she'd rather take his word for it than mine. She finally took the plunge and bit into it. She spits most of it out, but it's a start.

I love those laFolie knits, so I ordered the princess a hat. And yes, that's another cracker.

We have a crazy cracker eater on our hands. I think she thinks there is going to be a cracker famine, so she eats as many as she can as fast as she can. I had to give her a prop to keep her still (relatively). Now I have lots of crumbs to clean up.

We are so very excited that the sun is shining today, we couldn't resist taking advantage of the good indoor lighting. And by we, I mean I. Evie is celebrating by lying on our bed reading her favorite book. Have you heard of the Boohbah's? I hadn't, but the doctor's office gave her this book. I think they are comparable to Teletubbies. Very strange and kind of freaky. That's the book she wants to read a lot right now. This morning when I was emptying the dishwasher, there was a pitcher turned upside down but it had a little water resevoir on the top. I was trying to carefully move it to the sink so I could dump the water in the sink, but I was unsteady, and the water spilled on Evie just as she looked up to see what was going on. So she got splashed in the face with dishwasher water. She didn't appreciate it much.

Christina brought Evie's BFF over today. Baby Maddy. Evie was completely amused by her. She was kissing her, feeling her feet, poking her eyes and saying, "eye", etc. She was in baby heaven.

Is there a more fun place for a baby to play than the garage? This rain is really getting us down, so we visited the next best thing to being outside. Evie loves to look at the worms, and I'm almost ready to let her pick one up. I'm just afraid she'll put it in her mouth. She won't eat any green vegetables, but I'm sure she'd be game for worms.

Just a few more from today...I got some new tools that I'm trying out tonight.

Could be another pajama day.
