We went camping this weekend with my brother, his kids, and my other brother and his girlfriend. We got a little wet, but still had a great time.

The first thing she said when she woke up was "spinka? spinka? again?" I think that meant she wanted to get back in the sprinkler. Here she is giving me her "why not?" face.

hot and oh so dry

The pool doesn't open until next week, so we have to do what we can this week. Look how dry and brown our grass is! The grass, along with Evie, needed a little watering.

Here she is demonstrating a trick that her daddy must've taught her on his day off.



I'm a sucker for close-ups...I love this one of Evie b/c it shows her sweet little eyelashes and her crazy curls in the background.

kinda windy

Don't know why but I'm feeling lots of color today, which is unusual. Evie and I got to see the baby today on the ultrasound screen. Pretty exciting, but I'm not sure if she really gets it or not. We ask her if she wants to kiss mommy's belly and she does, but then she lifts up daddy's shirt and kisses his too.

wow! a fly!

She was just looking in amazement at this fly on the window. She thought that was the neatest thing...bug! bug!


I think she's going to be a really good big sister. And someday a really good mommy. She's sweet to her baby dolls anyway.


Even asleep she won't put this doggy down. I tried to take it when I took her seatbelt off to get her out of the car, and she snatched it back. This doggy is guarded better than Ft. Knox.

missing you

When this picture was taken, you could've been a spokesperson for the Gap,
But if you were here, even with funny teeth, I'd still sit on your lap.

When you're gone I can't see your eyes, which are my favorite feature on your face.
But luckily your daugther has them, so I can see them when I look at Evie Grace.

Tonight my bed is cold and empty, and there's nothing next to me.
Except of course my favorite pillow, but it is old and grungy.

As I was putting Evie to bed tonight, she gave me her normal kiss and hug.
Then she asked for a hug from you, and I had nothing for her but a shoulder shrug.

In case you didn't know this, we don't like it when you go away.
So instead of taking a class next time, maybe you should stay.

That's how she tells us she wants to go outside. I'm not sure what it is about being out there but it really gets her going. She starts struttin' her stuff and then off she goes. It must be the freedom of no walls.



I laid this blanket out by this tree for her to sit on while I took her picture but she had other things in mind. Night night, baby girl. I should know by now that the best pictures are the ones I didn't plan on and are never the ones I had in mind.


I came into the living room tonight and found this sweet setup. I think they were watching a special Price is Right. Now Evie is saying Dollars! Dollars! Thanks, Bob Barker.

i need to write these things down

I was telling a lady at work a story today about Evie and we were both laughing about it, and she said, "you need to write these things down so you can share them with her later!" So this is where I'm going to write it down. Yesterday I started trying to potty train Evie. I let her run around without a diaper and I gave her lots of stuff to drink...nothing too bad, just beer and gin and tonic in a sippy cup. Or maybe it was Juicy Juice...I get her cup and my cup confused sometimes. She peed on the floor maybe 4 or 5 times, and I'd swoop her up in my arms and sit her on the potty. Then she'd cry b/c for one she didn't like the potty and b) because she didn't like pee on her leg...which is strange b/c I really like that. Who doesn't? Anyway I gave up, because I heard you can make them regress if you push it, and she obviously didn't want to do it. So then I put a diaper on her and jumped in the shower. After I had applied my shampoo she came over to the curtain and pulled it back, peeped inside and said Help please (which she pronounces "up-peas") while holding herself. Then she went number 2 in her britches. That must've been my window of opportunity, because she hasn't done it since.

Evie had a really really great day at the zoo, took a really good nap when we got home (half of which was on my lap, gotta love it when that happens), and was in a good mood when she woke up. I got out the camera and she played it up big time showing me her doggy. Her favorite part about the zoo was the dolphin show. I've never seen her get as excited as she did when the first dolphin jumped way into the air. She was visibly shaking with her mouth wide open and clapping...I'll never forget that!

when is it going to come out?

Yesterday one of the little boys next door (4 yrs old) said, "is there a baby in your belly?" I told him yes, and that we were going to be having another baby. Then today as Greg, Evie, and I were walking by his house he said, "where's your baby?" I thought he was talking about Evie and thought maybe he didn't see her, so I pointed ahead and said, "right there." He said, "no, I mean the new one." I told him I haven't had it yet, and he impatiently said, "well when is it going to come out?" It was so cute. If only it worked that quickly!

a little candy

In my desperate attempt to spoil these kids' dinner, I broke out the lollipops. I love to see kids being kids and enjoying the finer things in life, like sugar. :)

I love it that she has sucker on her face here. Mom wanted to wipe it off but I kept begging her to keep it. I may have to photoshop it out later but for now I'm enjoying it!
