To da park! (again...again)

I don't know what has gotten into me this month, but I guess I'm just in the blogging mood. I know you are all probably so tired of the pictures of Evie at the park, but how could we not go there today? I wonder if global warming has anything to do with the shorts-like weather we are getting at the end of December? Leo DiCaprio would say yes for sure! By the way, I didn't want another picture in that silly car, but she wanted in it, and stayed in it for so long I had no other choice. By the way (squared), she's smiling because I'm shooting this picture with the camera to my side rather than looking through the viewfinder. Very amusing!

And after all that, she was finally ready for a nap.

I think this is the single greatest joy Evie has ever known.

"What?.....Do I have something on my face?"

And then it was off to the tub!

I'd read somewhere that babies will begin to say more the moment they realize that it's a good way to get what they want. Today as Evie was eating chili she realized saying "more" was more effective than pointing and grunting. Yaay! She said it about 15 more times while I was feeding her! Too cute. Thanks, Hormel.

I stuck that little jacket in the back of Evie's closet when she was a newborn, thinking it would be forever until she got to wear it. It was a gift from a good friend of mine. I just pulled it out today and realized it's just the right size. Isn't the princess cute in it?

No one was at the park today...

Well, except a few people. But it's really cold, so that lasted all of about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. It was much warmer inside the shelter of La Hacienda. For those of you who didn't have Senora Sullivan, that's Spanish for "The Hacienda".

Christmas 06

Evie had a wonderful Christmas and is resting peacefully. It was so great to see her get excited about her presents, Grandpa's tractor, and her new found love of eggnog. I thought it would be too thick to come out of a sippy cup, but I was wrong. My favorite thing though was watching her dance to the awesome music at our church service on Christmas Eve, entertaining everyone around us. Kids are so great in that they don't care what people think of them yet, and I think that's how I wish I was. I wanted to dance too! Here's a picture of her just before we left for Greg's parents....

Here's one where she's "helping" to feed the kittys at the farm, which is no easy task if you've ever worn thumbless mittens. I think this may be my favortie picture ever. So farm. So America.

And here she is with Grandpa.

Be sure and have some rolls...

...with your Christmas dinner. Merry Christmas!

"This is How We..." (part 2)

"...drive a car! First, you have your mommy lift you into the car. Then you put the key into the ignition, making sure you have plenty of gas. Sometimes when it's cold my gasometer gets foggy, so I wipe it off like this."

"Next, check your blindspots and ease into traffic."

"If someone is in your way, give them a honk, but keep your fingers to yourself!"

"If you get pulled over, give the cop a blank stare and pretend you didn't know any better."

"If the cop gives you trouble, make a run for it!"

"Hide wherever you can find a spot."

Suckers!

These two had a case of the Mondays until Mom pulled out some suckers. There's just something about sugar that makes kids cooperate. God job, Mom!

Cousin Laura

Greg's cousin Mike was in town taking a test today, and I was lucky enough to watch his daughter Laura for a few hours. She and Evie had a blast together. I cannot imagine having twins...they are very close in age and it made for a busy busy morning. It's funny how different they are. Laura is so active and non-stop and Evie kind of reminded me of Eeyore, because she'd be slowly following not really caring if she caught up or not. It was funny to watch them.

It kind of looks like Evie took this one of herself. But don't worry Greg she isn't touching that camera!

Evie's Christmas Party

Evie was invited to a Christmas party, along with all of the hospital employees' children. She got her face painted by a hobo/clown/type and also got to sit on the big guy's lap. She didn't know what to think at first but then he gave her a stuffed donkey (every little girl's dream), and she warmed up to him.

I'm not sure who this kid is, but he gave me a chuckle, so I took his picture.
